Westminster Arts works with partners to deliver specific projects. The impact of our work is sometimes life-changing and although not always immediately measurable, can have lasting benefits for individuals and communities.

Current Projects

Queens Park Life Stories 2010-11
Westminster Arts is working with older residents in Queen's Park as part of Be Creative, Be Well. Conducted by skilled artists, the project combines writing and contemporary quilt making, culminating in a book and an exhibition.

Westminster Arts Exhibition 2011

The Westminster Arts Exhibition is an annual feature in the cultural life of Westminster. It is a platform for established and emerging Westminster-based artists to exhibit and sell their work in the stunning SW1 Gallery in Victoria, London. This year the exhibition will take place in November.

Resonate
Resonate is a programme of arts work for older people with mental health problems including dementia. Led by Westminster Arts and funded by NHS Westminster, we provide a range of arts projects and hands-on creative opportunities as well as supported visits to galleries and theatres.

The Trebus Project
The Trebus Project is a fascinating and beautifully written book produced by David Clegg with people with dementia in a range of homes across Britain. The workshops and the production of the book were co-supported by the Resonate programme.

Westminster Arts Collection
The Collection currently comprises 26 original artworks selected from Westminster Arts’ Open Exhibitions since 1980 for loaning to community organisations and charities throughout Westminster.

A Pocketful of Magic 2010
This unique multi-media arts project involved older residents at a Sheltered Housing Scheme in Regents Park. It was supported by the Westminster ward budget and a publication and DVD were produced. Bursary Awards for Artists
Westminster Arts has a successful record of supporting artists and filmmakers with bursaries to support their professional and creative development. Bursaries have been supported through our Westminster Arts Initiatives programme funded by Westminster City Council and Film London.

Untold 2008
Untold, an exploration of identity in old age was an exhibition featuring the work of artists and older people with dementia. This project was created as a development of the Arts+Minds project. It took place at the SW1 Gallery, Victoria and was produced by Westminster Arts in partnership with Westminster City Council’s Adult and Community Services, and was funded by Arts Council England and LandSecurities.

Arts+Minds 2008
The Arts+Minds project took place in three care settings and involved participants and care staff. It was produced by Westminster Arts in partnership with Westminster City Council’s Adult and Community Services and was funded through a development grant from Futurebuilders England.
